ABOUT IAN

Ian Arthur (born 1984) is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in the 2018 provincial election. He represents the riding of Kingston and the Islands as a member of the Ontario New Democratic Party. He was officially sworn in as the Member of Provincial Parliament on July 10, 2018. As a member of the Official Opposition, Arthur currently serves on the Finance and Economic Affairs committee of the Legislative Assembly and is the NDP critic for Environment and Sustainability.

Prior to being elected he was the executive chef at well-known Kingston restaurant Chez Piggy and coached rowing for Queen's University.

BILLS & MOTIONS

Motion 32: Mr. Arthur (Ending time of use pricing for electricity)

That, in the opinion of this House, the Government should end mandatory time-of-use pricing for residents, farmers and small business electricity consumers, and develop a fairer price structure that meets conservation goals while not punishing people for having farms, businesses and families.

This motion will be debated in February 2019.
